Being a Staff Member at Bearbrook Combined School and Pre-School

Bearbrook Combined School is a large primary school (c. 480 pupils) in Aylesbury, rated “Good” by Ofsted with an “Outstanding Pre-school”. We are all passionate in our endeavours to nurture and inspire our children so they meet their full potential.

As one of the County’s first Early Years Excellence Hubs, we are committed to a programme of early support and interventions and are striving for outstanding progress and attainment for all our children. We provide a linked-up provision for 0-11 year olds, which spans a Children’s Centre, an outstanding pre-school and primary school.

At Bearbrook we are committed to providing our staff with a comprehensive induction  programme, continuing professional development and a supportive and enjoyable working place.

The school is well resourced and benefits from being situated in extensive grounds offering opportunities for creative teaching. We are a supportive team working together to create a calm and happy school.

As a member of staff or trainee teacher you will be part of an excellent training programme, receiving the highest quality support in a creative and strong school from the best practitioners and mentors.

We actively support the recruitment and retention of teachers at all stages of their career. Bearbrook prides itself on it’s induction, mentoring and coaching programme.

We would welcome any staff who can:

  • Demonstrate proven success or an understanding in raising attainment and progress in their classroom for all pupils including those most able

  • Work effectively as part of a team to embrace and embed new strategies and approaches across the school

  • Quickly identify areas for self -, pupil-, or whole school improvement and develop effective solutions which deliver measurable results

  • Be a role model and coach to pupils and colleagues in upholding our school vision and values, ensuring that everyone is nurtured, inspired and (as a result), achieves.

In return, you’ll join a wonderful school which offers:

  • A welcoming, vibrant and inclusive community

  • Enthusiastic children who are eager to learn

  • Regular opportunities for professional development

  • Frequent communication amongst all staff to encourage openness and clarity on the direction of the school.
