MEET THE GOVERNORS

Siew-Yen Tew

Parent Governor

We all want our children to have a happy and successful time at school and I feel that the staff at Bearbrook really support this.  It's not just about the academic journey.   I have a son in Year 1 and chose Bearbrook because it seemed a well rounded and friendly school which reflects the diversity we see in Aylesbury.

My background is commercial, living in spreadsheets but also managing the flow of information to help support company objectives and I hope this will prove useful in my role as a newly appointed parent governor.

Laura Boyle

Parent Governor

My eldest child joined the school in 2012 and I have been a member of the PTA (Friends@Bearbrook) ever since; most recently serving two years as the Vice Chair. This has been an incredibly rewarding experience where I have met many of the parents who turn up to support our events, as well as the dedicated team of parents who work hard, raising invaluable funds for the school.

My youngest child has just started year 1 and I'm really excited to take on my new role as a parent governor. I believe that my job as a manager within the Reducing Reoffending team at Aylesbury prison, where we focus on education and skills opportunities, will bring something different to the board. I am also looking forward to helping to ensure the parent voice plays a part in the continued development of our brilliant school.

Marcus Faulkner

Headteacher

I am very proud to say that I have been the headteacher at Bearbrook Combined School for twelve years and I thoroughly enjoy the role. I believe Governors within Bearbrook play a vital role in driving up standards for our children and ensuring that all who attend are nurtured, inspired and ultimately achieve.

I am also a governor myself at Elmhurst School.  I am very proud to be a part of the school, as I am sure you will be.Therefore, on behalf of the staff and governors, I would like to welcome your child to Bearbrook Pre-school and School.

Adrian Frantom

Community Governor

I am a self-employed consultant based in the UK with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, at a local and global level with AstraZeneca.  I have had a varied range of experience in conference and events, marketing excellence, compliance, employee engagement, business management, professional relations, corporate and social responsibility and corporate brand management.

As well as being a Governor for Bearbrook, I am also a mentor for The Brightside Trust, a charity that enables young people to make informed choices through on line mentoring programmes, and currently studying for an MSc in Coaching at Ashridge Business School in the UK.

Lucy Parker

Staff Governor

Kevin Hardern

Community Governor - Vice Chair

I have been involved with schools for over 30 years, starting with setting up the PTA at Turnfurlong Infants school when we moved here in 1987 and then Chairman of that followed by Chairman of Turnfurlong Juniors PTA for four years. I was elected as a Parent Governor of Aylesbury Grammar school over 20 years ago and since then have been Chairman for eight years and am now a Co-opted Governor responsible for SEND. I now have grand children at primary schools in Aylesbury where I attend events whenever possible.

I am a Board Member of Young Enterprise in Aylesbury Vale and am active in the community as Senior Property Steward at Aylesbury Methodist Church and Centre, responsible for the premises and volunteers who are based there.

My main drive in education is to ensure that each child achieves their potential, both in school work and socially, so that they end up as a responsible adult who contributes to society.

Angela Mackay

Chair of Governors - Community Governor

I have been a Governor at Bearbrook School for almost seven years and my youngest son attends the school. I work as a Paralegal for a large global engineering company. Being a school governor is something that I am very proud of and as a governor I have seen the school grow into one of the best schools in Aylesbury. This is due to a great leadership team and excellent teaching staff who all bring something individual to the school. The children seem to thrive in the school environment and this shows in the results that are achieved throughout the school.

Paul Ryder

Parent Governor

I am a parent governor with two children currently at Bearbrook who both love coming to a school which offers a nurturing environment where they can thrive and achieve. Outside of my governor role I have worked for 18 years in the education sector at all levels providing education based ICT software and hardware.  Over the course of my career I have been to hundreds of schools so I can say with confidence that Bearbrook is one of the most welcoming and inclusive schools and has some of the most dedicated staff with which I have worked. I am proud to be a Bearbrook Governor and to contribute towards the continuous strive to be the best school we can be.

Sarita Pullen

Staff Governor

I have been a Governor at Bearbrook School for almost eleven years and all of my five children have attended the school. I work as a Year 3 Teacher at the school so I am actively involved in exciting developments. I am very passionate about educating our young people. Over the years I have seen Bearbrook School grow and flourish to be the school that it is today. It has a vibrancy about it and it is a warm and friendly place, it is because of this, that I am proud to be a governor at the school.
